McDermitt School District

Photo: The old McDermitt School buildingThe Malheur Co. School District #51 (McDermitt) has a population of approximately 64 persons; approximately 80% of whom are ranchers, who live in the southeastern corner of the state of Oregon in Malheur County. 

The Board of Directors have five regularly scheduled Board meetings each year.  The district Board of Directors contracts with an out-of-state district for the instruction of students.  Students attend McDermitt Combined School a division of Humboldt County Schools in McDermitt Nevada, which has a qualified staff and facilities for instruction.  For many years the district has been classified as “Suspended”.

There are no  licensed or classified personnel employed by the district, which is governed by a 5-member Board.
